Objective: Viking

Defeat the mass army of Vikings before they over-power you!

This objective equates to a time-limited multiball. It can get dangerous depending on the number of Vikings left undefeated.

Starting a Viking Battle

To start a Viking battle, you must spell VIKING via the orbits in normal game play. Shoot an orbit with a flashing letter to collect the letter. Once you have all letters for VIKING, a Viking battle starts immediately. Note that the left orbit spells the last letter of VIKING, and LOCK is flashing light blue in the process. You must get your ball into the VUK to spell the last letter. The ball is held in there to play the intro sequence and then kicked out at the start of VIKING.

Viking Battle

In a Viking battle, the following happens:
  • 5-ball multiball with unlimited ballsaver.
  • Initial time on the clock depends on game difficulty:
    • Zen and Easy: 60 seconds
    • Normal: 50 seconds
    • Hard and Impossible: 40 seconds
  • The ramps, orbits, horseshoe, captive ball, and scoop are flashing green (each represent one of 8 Vikings that are after you). Each shot represents a Viking who has 100 HP.
  • Shoot the flashing shots to deal 20 HP damage to the Viking and change its color (green to blue, blue to yellow, yellow to orange, orange to red, red to off).
    • You also score points and additional multiball time depending on the color / HP level of the Viking when you shot it:
      • Green: 250,000 points + 1 second
      • Blue: 500,000 points + 2 seconds
      • Yellow: 1,000,000 points + 3 seconds
      • Orange: 2,000,000 points + 4 seconds
      • Red: 4,000,000 points + 5 seconds (shot will also turn off as the Viking is defeated)
  • Multiball ends when the clock runs out; flippers freeze to drain the balls.
  • If any Vikings are left undefeated when multiball ends, you are dealt 2 HP damage for every Viking left alive. This means you could receive up to 16 HP damage.
  • However, once you defeat all 8 Vikings, you complete the objective.
Note: the table remembers your progress between battles; progress is cumulative between battles. So when you start another Viking battle, you resume where you left off at the end of the previous battle regarding Viking health and which ones were defeated.

Completing the Objective

Once you defeat all 8 Vikings and complete the objective, you are asked if you want to SPARE / humble them and try to earn their trust as allies, or to KILL them.

SPOILER WARNING

After Objective Completion

You can continue starting Viking battles after the Viking objective is complete. However, a few changes occur:
  • Progress does not roll over between Viking battles at this point; you are given a set of 8 fresh Vikings every time.
  • Each additional Viking you kill will also award you 5 HP towards the Potion Motion Mini-Wizard.
